...of how very much God loves you.
He loves you (and me!) when we are unloveable. On our good days and our bad days. He loves us.
He loves you because He loves you. Period.
Ya know how 'cum I know?
The word "love" appears in the Bible 311 times. Here's a small sampling:
"...love covereth all sins." Prov. 10:12
"...his banner over me was love." Son of Solomon 2:4
"Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back." Isaiah 38:17
"In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them, and carried them all the days of old." Isaiah 63:9
"...Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love..." Jer. 31:3
"I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love:" Hosea 11:4
"I will heal their backslidding, I will love them freely..." Hosea 14:4
"As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love." John 15:9
"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which was given unto us." Romans 5:5
"But God commended his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ... Nor height, not depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:35 & 39
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith hi loved us," Eph. 2:4
"And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge..." Eph 3:19
"And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us," Eph. 5:2
"And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God,..." 2 Th 3:5
"Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,..." 1 John 3:1 (couldn't help but sing the little tune to this verse as I typed!)
"...God is love." 1 John 4:8
"In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." I John 4: 9 & 10
"We love him because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19
Get the point? ;)
